Today Was Hard...

Today was a hard day. One of the hardest I have had in a long while. Shaylee broke my heart for the first time today. Three years old and she already has the power to break me. I love this little girl with all of me. So much. So much. She is the epitome of spirited. The epitome of stubborn.

Shaylee has the most amazing laugh if you can get her to laugh. It is very husky and full sounding. Her eyes light up and her face splits in half. She throws her back and laughs with vigor. I adore her laugh, and enjoy making her do it.

The thing though, is that at three ... she already is set in her personality. She is a very cautious child. Very shy and doesn't let people in easily. Her best friend is Aiden- he is her champion and she mimic's everything that he does and says. This brightens my soul. Aiden is also her worst enemy at times. She has a switch that can flip at the blink of an eye. She will laugh one second and then flip on to full on attack mode.

This is what makes my days so difficult.

I know some of this is personality, but most of it is her age. She is only three ... but thinks she is Aiden's age. They are a year and a half apart yet are the exact same weight and height. She is a four and a half year old. But not really. This is where the frustration is stemming from. Her communication was a little behind to begin with, but now that she is speaking very well she is coming across other road blocks in her development. Not because she is late... but because she wants and YEARNS to be where her brother is. And Aiden doesn't understand that she isn't either.

Aiden is a very bright four year old. But not only is he older and thinks that they are the same... he is a boy. His development into becoming a little boy from a toddler is so obvious right now. Today he asked me if he was going to school today. I didn't even know he knew school existed, much less what day it started. I had to break the news that he doesn't get to go until next year. Maybe choosing not to enroll them into preschool was a mistake.

Today I sat with them and did an hour of "preschool" all by ourselves. I have a lot to work on patience wise. I see a lot of me in Aiden. I was/ am? dyslexic but was taught how to overcome it by third grade. I think my son may be dyslexic. I NEED to remember this as I work with him daily on our studies. Not get mad at him... but be more understanding. Why am I struggling with this? WHY?

I love him so much too. He is a pleaser. He TRIES to make me laugh and happy. And I do laugh, but I need to laugh more. He really does enjoy sitting with me and learning how to write. I didn't even know he could hold a pen properly... and write?! He can write if I give him something to copy. Wow. I really missed out on the preschool coop because of the move and having Lyndi. I commend the other mom's that did such a great job with him. My little boy wrote a four today! And a six! And  a five!!! It makes my heart smile. His four was backwards and I found out his five was supposed to be a two... but that's what makes watching his learn so fun. Also what makes me know I need to really zone in on his one on one education with me.

I am his mother. I have the power to help him succeed.

Shaylee really enjoyed coloring with us. I worked with her too... but her mommy-made worksheets were a little different from Aiden's. I want her to be exposed, but I am not going to push. She knows her ABC's when pointed out, but she won't perform under pressure. So I think I will keep it a game with her... fun time to learn with brother and mommy.

Lyndi is funny. She just sat in her high chair and played with some baby snacks the entire hour. She really is my easy one right now. Josh actually said for the first time yesterday that he believes we are done having children.

Part of me is relieved by this revelation. But part of me is really sad too. Like we might be missing out on another amazing little person up there. I just know and have been inspired that right now is just NOT that time. Josh is afraid that Lyndi is going to be just as spirited as Aiden and Shaylee. If that is the case, then she will probably be our last. I love all three so much... but mentally I can only take so much. Being a mommy is hard work. I think having a career would be much easier to be honest. There's so much repsonsibility here in the home... and if my children grow up messed up- that's on me. Not some day care. Nope, me.

I hope my children know I do love them. That Shaylee knows I am being firm with her for her own good. Not that I am trying to take away a part of her by bending her will or whatever. She needs to learn to obey rules and have respect. Those ARE the fundamentals of life. She won't succeed with out those fundamentals. I will continue to work with her... and continue to LOVE and ADORE her... but I think I need to up the words of affirmation with her. More hugging. More mommy/ sissy time. I think that should help.

And then maybe she will want to be my little friend again. Because I sure miss her loving on me and thinking I am her World. Three is too young to not want her mama anymore.

An Entire Horde of Happy Posts...

I have decided that I need to stop focusing on all the negative (and yet still exciting) aspects of my life. I have so much to be happy and grateful for so I thought I'd put up a couple of posts full of the people that make me the most happy in my life. You will have to excuse the photography and try not to judge my skills too harshly since these were more spur of the moment memory pictures for me.

My daughter turned two and we went to Denny's for lunch and then a park with water and a beach afterward. It was so much fun, and both kids had a blast! I wasn't feeling too well but I tried to keep up a happy face for my little girl on her big day.

Aiden was even super excited because he got a brand new water bottle with a football on it. It's the little things that make my kiddo's so happy. Perhaps I should take some lessons, eh? :)

My pregnancy has been extremely hard this time around. I tend to have hard pregnancies- but this just feels different. I am now 16 weeks and will set up my ultra sound in three weeks at my next doctors appointment. Yes we will ask to know what it is... but we aren't rooting for either gender at this point. What ever this little bean monster decides to be will be exciting!

I think Aiden is starting to understand that mommy has a baby in her belly because he has become quite the little "daddy" himself. He carries "babies" around with him everywhere he goes and takes great care of them. He even is helping Shaylee try to become a better mommy. At this point she gets frustrated and throws her baby across the room and storms off. Aiden is being quite patient with her! HAHA! :) It really warms my heart.

Today is the day we decide to walk or not on the house. I haven't heard back on the title "amendment" we have asked for. If they don't agree to a title amendment giving us more time on the inspection then we will kiss the home goodbye. We don't see the point in shelling out money for an inspection on a house that may never get a cleared title anyway. I have been stressed about it in the past... but today I actually woke up with a calm. I decided to lay it in the Lord's hands. I have a hard time with this sometimes and it takes me awhile to hand my problems over, but I finally humbled myself enough to do so. At this point there isn't any more Josh and I can do... so we wait... some more. But that's okay now. I'm waiting with a calm.

Anyway- I hope you enjoy the pictures because the next three posts down are all new too!

Private School... Park?!

Josh found this private school hidden away
just down the road from where we live....
It has a super huge field,
and quite the play area....

It was a nice peaceful evening together as a family.
Other families showed up that probably belonged to the school...
so we quietly and QUICKLY snuck away! HAHA!

The lighting was absolutely HORRIBLE... so pardon the pictures! :P

Shaylee's Eye...

My daughter was running away from me
as I chased her down the sidewalk at the park.
Just as I said, "Slow down booboo!!!" ...
she tripped over her own chubby little legs.

It was so sad to see her go flying face first into someone else's jogger stroller.
As soon as I picked her up I could see this wasn't going to be just a little owie...
so Josh drove all of us immediately to a walk-in clinic.

The doctor said that there wasn't any apparent breaks-
she didn't feel any crunching. *shiver*
And Shaylee's eye wasn't getting stuck in any direction...
so we went home w/o any CAT scans or Xrays.

There still may be a slight fracture-
but from how quickly she's healing I'd say she's one lucky little lady!

Even with a big owie- she's still quite beautiful to me! :)

Trip to the Beach...

We have been spending a lot of quality time going and exploring new parks and beaches with friends. My friend Karena came along and showed us this one in Ballard. My children had a blast! Especially getting seaweed all over themselves! :)

They even took Aiden's superman and Shaylee's new mermaid down!
Their toys had so much fun too! :)

A Drive Thru Dinner?

On our drive home from the Tri-Cities we felt strongly that we should go the back way to avoid Manastash Pass. We tend to always come across semi-truck drivers who aren't looking out for smaller cars when they pull out to pass another truck.

So we didn't hesitate when we went down the Canyon and enjoyed the scenic view. Luckily we were doing just that when we came around a bend because before us was a herd of wild rams! And they weren't even concerned when they saw us coming towards them. They just sat there in the road munching away on what ever was scrumptious at the moment.

Finally Josh laid on the horn and decided they should scamper... but before they did I got some fun pictures of them!

I love when we act spontaineous and go out for dinner. Or rather, I love when we don't have to cook and make a mess! This was a special night though! For some reason we were feeling fuzzy and had a great time!

Guess where we went? We went to old school Micky D's! And like me as a child, my children had a blast. I love the pictures I took of them having a ball! I hope you enjoy!....

5 Crazy Years...A Story.

5 Years ago a story began...
Boy meets girl....

Boy LIKES girl... Girl isn't quite sure.

BUT 7 months later they got married!
November 12, 2005
Columbia River Temple, Kennewick Wa.

And were excited about their happy union!

Girl's family lived far away...
so boy drove her there for their first Christmas!
Their second Christmas was more exciting!
Boy and girl went Christmas tree hunting with friends and family!
They were pleased with their great find!

Then life got difficult.
Boy had 3 jobs and a lot of responsibility his senior year of CWU.
Girl became a photographer for the University's newspaper...

AND THEN....they found out they were pregnant!

They were so excited even though girl was incredibly sick.
Boy did everything in his power to make sure his family was happy.

86 hours of labor and 3 hours of intense pushing baby boy was born!
Boy became daddy and girl became mommy.
They named baby boy Aiden.

Through love and honor daddy blessed Aiden at 3 months.
Mommy cried- her heart was full.

Between work and school they both worked hard to be with Aiden at all times.
Sometimes Aunty Erica and Uncle Did had to help though.

Finally daddy graduated with 2 BA's!
What a man! He worked so hard for his little family!
Daddy was even a news reporter for awhile...

Mommy loved watching him on TV at 5 and 6 pm.

Sadly being a small town famous boy didn't pay enough so daddy gave up his dream.
He moved his family across the state near Seattle to work at Microsoft as a vendor.
Once again excited and nervous about where their lives were going...
mommy got pregnant again!

This wasn't going to stop her from getting her degree however!
Instead she worked even harder and turned her major and minor into an Independant Study.
At 9 months pregnant she graduated as one of the top non-traditional students.
She sure cried!

And then sissy was born!
A family of four they became.
They named her Shaylee.

Itty bitty with a temper that trumps all sissy was blessed at 2 months.

Mommy was incredibly sick after she had sissy.
It made life hard but daddy made sure they had everything they needed.
He even set up family pictures with a co-worker just for mommy!

Another year later mommy and daddy are as spunky as ever!
Who says adults can't have fun???

But most importantly...
mommy and daddy are super happy and in love.

A boy and a girl became a husband and a wife.
A husband and wife became a father and a mother.

And in that five years they grew from being independent and carefree...
to becoming a responsible and loving eternal family.

I love you so much Joshua.
Thank you for being that boy for me.
Thank you for being an amazing husband-
and an even better father.

Like this rose- I would have never met my full potential with out you there to take care of me.
Like this rose- I would have never blossomed into becoming the mother I am today with out your example.

You are my husband.
I look forward to spending the rest of eternity with you.

Love Girl-Wife- and Mommy.
